Basic Rules for PocketAces Linkshell

It is very important that every member or prospective member understand a simple fact. Every member of this LS will be held to these rules. If you have not read them, it does not matter. If you accept a pearl, these rules will govern. Period. “I did not read the rules“ or “I did not know“ are not legitimate excuses for breaking any listed rule. If this is a problem for you, then I suggest you not request a pearl or drop the one you have.

Basic Rules of Conduct

This LS has members ranging in age from 13 to 60+ with a pretty even mix of males and females. There are even entire IRL families that are part of this LS. There is a wide range of political, religious and other beliefs among members. Members are from many different countries and may have different opinions, thoughts, and senses of humor. As a result, what you find appropriate or funny others may not. To keep hurt feelings, misunderstandings, and offensive behavior to a minimum we have very simple rules to follow. Everyone on this LS will be treated as if they have read them.

If you disagree with any of the following, maybe this isn’t the right place for you to be. Understand that these rules apply to every member. No exceptions. Understand that if you are about to give me reasons under the first amendment of the US Constitution, or any other ‘legal’ reason why I cannot enforce these rules, then I will laugh very loudly at you. These are the rules. Stay and follow them, or leave and have a great day. If you accept the pearl, you have agreed to all of these rules and all future changes here in.

Offensive and Rude Behavior

PocketAces observes Zero Tolerance with regard to offensive language, emotes, or intimidation of other members. We expect that members making such remarks act maturely enough to be able to apologize sincerely if offense is taken, regardless of whether the comments were accidental or intentional.

Members that show a continued lack of restraint and inability to observe this policy will be removed from the linkshell.

If it’s not a word that you will see on a broadcast TV show, then you better not say it here. PG-13 is a reasonable guideline. This means the F-Bomb is 100% unacceptable. However, this doesn’t mean we need speech Nazi’s running about screaming “Language” every time someone says “damn”. Use your head. Understand that using the F word, will get you attention you did not want.

Most of us do curse in real life when appropriate. It happens. Please try to refrain as best you can. Cursing AT someone will definetly put you in the hot seat so be careful

“l33t” speak is not acceptable. Period.

Learn to type. Use abbreviations if you must, but English, proper English, is expected. We realize that some members may not speak English as their first language, this is another reason why correct English must be used as much as possible. “Leet” or slang is nearly incomprehensible to those who do speak English natively, to someone who does not, it’s just gibberish. If we need secret decoder rings to understand you, you’ll just be ignored. If you start to complain because your ‘leet’ request for help or questions went unanswered, try speaking like an upright human and not some knuckle dragging illiterate moron and you might get better results. Is this harsh? Yes. Does this mean we’re serious about it? Bet on it.

We do realize everyone comes from different backgrounds and therefore "spelling Nazis" will not be tolerated. Its the internet, misspelling a word (or three) happens. Get over it and worry about what comes out of your own keyboard and not someone else's.

Personal Conflicts

I do not care why. I do not care what. I do not care who. If you have a personal issue with another member, you will resolve that issue with them, IN PRIVATE. The Linkshell is not a place to air your or another person’s grievances or personal conflicts. Take it in to tell, go on AIM, email, tin cans, scream across your backyard, whatever. But, under no circumstances should we see your personal problems and squabbles splattered on the Linkshell or in the forums. Grow up, sort it out then move on. If you can’t a sack will help you with the ‘move on’ part.

Police Yourselves

Consider your behavior. If other LS members are telling you to stop, consider why. Maybe you are being obnoxious, disruptive or otherwise making people uncomfortable with your choice of topics. If people are being bothered by your actions, stop them. Before it becomes something a sack needs to address. I’m not asking members to act like snitches or turn people in or for general members to enforce rules. I’m asking everyone to keep in mind there are rules for a reason. So follow them. As long as people follow them, sacks and myself will not have to enforce them.

If an officer kindly asks you to focus or stop an innopropriate action, please be mindful and do not give them any flack or whine that you got called out. You will not find a quicker way to get you pearl broken faster than this.

This also includes communcation programs such as Ventrilo that is PA funded.

Best Efforts Are Expected

Everyone is expected to put their full effort into any PA event he/she attends.

Examples of what we consider to be a lack of effort include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Frequently going AFK or standing idle while we are actively moving through a zone
• Using events as an opportunity to level up weapon or magic skills
• Not bringing medicines appropriate for the event we are doing. It is expected that members will use common sense with regards to medicines you will need to bring for your job, but we will try to announce a list of other medicines you should bring as a reminder. This does include reraise items for non WHM or /whm jobs.
• Running away, hiding, or immediately self-disconnecting during a difficult or linked pull.
• Not utilizing spells or abilities for the role your job is expected to perform (eg., tanks not using Provoke, mages not using Sleep)
• Coming to an event as a job with less utilization, when other jobs are available to you and more appropriate to bring (exceptions may be made)
• Using a trial weapon (to earn weaponskill points) or a non-primary weapon for your job (eg., a THF using a sword). We know these are not your best weapons, don't bother trying to convince us otherwise. This has been remedied by a SE update so that you can't earn weaponskill points during Dynamis, Limbus, etc. So if you're caught with a a trial weapon equipped, not only are you breaking the rules, but you are a moron too.

You are to follow instructions provided by linkshell leadership or by your alliance leader. Failure to do so will result in a warning or other corrective measures, including re-evaluation of linkshell membership in more extreme cases.

Use of Linkshell Chat

The linkshell channel (/linkshell) is reserved for use. We expect all members to be paying attention to all communication on this channel. We will use it for the following purposes:

Leadership (run and alliance leaders) - to relay run-specific information between other leaders, such as direction or alliance status

Designated Treasure Pool managers - will announce when AF drops and remind members to pass specific items in the Treasure Pool

Raisers - WHMs or other mages will announce who they are Raising to avoid multiple people raising the same person

Use of /linkshell should not be abused, even by leadership.

While we appreciate the fact that many of the members use the shell as a social means, please be respectful of event times and keep social chatter down to a minimum. A member abusing linkshell chat will be given two warnings, and, if the abuse continues, then followed by removal from the shell. Officers will then determine whether or not the removal will be temporary or permanent.

Controlling Multiple Characters

The use of multiple characters under the control of one person in Dynamis is not allowed, unless it has been approved by leadership in advance. If we are able to determine that you are controlling more than one character, you will be asked to log out the additional character(s) or they will be forcibly removed from the zone.

Event Substitution

Members may arrange to have their character controlled by another person for the sole purpose of obtaining a key item needed to clear a zone. Such instances must be arranged with leadership in advance of the run.

Members under control of another are not eligible to lot anything from events (including AF, priority or otherwise, and are not entitled to gil from currency) and receive no credit for attendance. However, the controlling member in an approved instance will receive credit for attending the run.
You must be logged into Guildwork in order to apply and/or view your application status.
